A few of the Double Circle Longhorns pose for a photo.
Our longhorns have all been sold. Now we raise easy grass finishing cattle with Devon or South Poll influence. I’ll put some pictures of our new cattle on soon. They are beautiful in their own right—but nothing bovine is as majestic as a herd of Texas Longhorns.
Here are a few pick of our old herd—they will never be forgotten! (See photo albums and the gallery below.)
The Double Circle Ranch used to maintain a cattle herd of just over 200 Texas Longhorn steers. Our Longhorns roamed free on almost 40,000 acres, a pretty good gig, being a steer on this ranch.
The Double Circle Longhorns are imposing creatures but remarkably gentle, accustomed to being herded by horseback just about daily. It is an attractive breed, full of color and pattern and the horns…those horns! Our herd has been the subject of many a photographer’s lens, many a painter’s canvas, and even a song and a poem or two.
