Wild Turkeys Crossing Eagle Creek

Wild Turkeys Crossing Eagle Creek

It must be a good year for turkeys. It seems everywhere I ride and even in my yard there are the familiar sounds of gobbling toms. They are really strutting. I have been seeing lone toms and groups of up to 15 turkeys. I like to listen to the turkeys and watch them.

I believe youth turkey season is coming soon. I hope some of the big toms live to mate and keep the population growing – both for future hunters and folks like me who just enjoy watching all the critters on Double Circle Ranch.

It seems like turkeys are in abundance everywhere. There were loads of turkeys in Montana just a few weeks back when I was up there. I agree it was great just listening to them and watching them.

  • Dave,

Hope you had a great time in Montana. I guess that is another good turkey country. We are still hearing gobbling everyday. There were fewer turkey tags because the Wallow fire killed lots of chicks. Game and Fish has reduced tags to encourage turkey population growth. Here on Eagle Creek we seem to have plenty of the birds- along with just about every kind of critter. I love it here.
